The City of Rome will officially support the observance of the UN End Poverty Day

On Thursday 17 May 2018, the final day of the 7th Biennial Meeting of the International Committee for October 17, the Lady Mayor of the City of Rome (Roma Capitale) has announced an official support to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which takes place every year on 17 October.

This is what the approved statement by the City Council of Roma Capitale, providing the city with the opportunity to access an important international initiative introduced by the UN with a resolution on 22 December 1992. The decision also gives the Department of the Person, School and Solidarity Community the mandate to implement, within the City Social Plan, instruments of accompaniment and strengthening aimed at combating the phenomenon of impoverishment and social isolation.

On the occasion of 17 October 2018, Roma Capitale will organize events, demonstrations, initiatives to raise awareness, highlighting the importance of hospitality, voluntary work and the contribution of the entire community starting from people who live in disadvantaged conditions; no one excluded.
